Castello di Monte wedding photography

Some places and couples are just very special. If you get a combination like Alex & Marietjie getting married at Castello di Monte then you must know you’re going to have something special.

Alex & Marietjie opted for a small intimate wedding with just their closest family and friends. Everything was perfect, the decor, the brides dress, the food, their awesome family and friends. They also gave me A LOT of time for the photoshoot, i think I would have easily been able to upload 500 photos on here. It was SO difficult to narrow it down to the photos on here, I am still not convinced I have the best photos on this blogpost

I asked Marietjie a couple of questions about their wedding and how they’ve met.

How did you meet
A mutual friend needed some company one evening during the December holidays, and the two of us ended up going out with him. The very next day, each of us asked the friend for the other’s number and from there on things just spiralled into the wonderful relationship we have today.

Tell us about the proposal
This happened only 10 years after we started dating! We were on holiday in Cape Town December 2013, when Alex decided we should go watch the sunset from Signal Hill on the 18th (the day before his birthday). He said he wanted to get some water from the backpack and instead presented the ring. The moment was perfect!

Describe your wedding day, anything specific that you will always remember
What will I NOT remember is a better question! Everything was perfect!

The dress
I didn’t do that much dress shopping, but when I saw my dress I knew that I didn’t have to look any further. I bought it from GF Bridal Couture in Fourways (which is now Crystal Garnet). It was exactly what I wanted.

The Flowers
The Wedding Warehouse in Centurion did all my flowers / décor / cake / stationery. I chose my flowers to go with the already beautiful setting of Castello di Monte. I wanted it to compliment the surroundings rather than being an attraction on its own.

Highlight of the wedding
For me it was walking down the isle seeing Alex’s face as he looked at me in absolute wonder.

 Was there any drama
None at all.

 The Honeymoon
We went to La Plantation d’ Albion on the West Coast of Mauritius. It was absolutely divine! The weather was as if we ordered it to be perfect. It was definitely the perfect way to start our married life.

Tell us about your photographer.
We chose JC Crafford Photography as they have done a wedding at Castello di Monte before. It was a great decision, and I could recommend him for anyone looking for a professional photographer. His expertise made everything easy, and the results are stunning!

Who did your make-up and hair?
Roxanne did my make-up and Milindi did my hair. They are both from Roxanne’s Professional Hair & Make-up.
I could not have asked for anyone better!

Any other suppliers that you want to mention?
Music: We had a Cello & Double Bass duo playing the most beautiful classical and contemporary music to backtracks.
Wolfgang Jacobs & Herman Maree at playalongcellist@hotmail.com

Do you have any advice for other brides/grooms-to-be?
My advice would be to enjoy every moment – from the moment he proposes till the moment you return from your honeymoon – it is a great experience that goes by way too fast!

What was your inspiration behind your overall wedding decor and colour choices?
I wanted something with a classical theme with lots of detail. Once I found my venue everything was easy from there.

Good luck for the future you two!
