It’s always nice to get out of the city for a while, and if your wedding is at De Hoek Country Lodge near heidelberg it’s even more fun. It was our first time there, and we just enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and look and feel of De Hoek Country Lodge.
Alexa and Martin are two very special people, and special people always have very special weddings, they did everything themselves, it of course helps a lot if you have a friend and bridesmaid like Lara that made this all possible…great work Lara!
I’ve added a lot of photos so that you can see the special decor.
Some off the other things I liked was the popcorn that they’ve used instead of rose petals. The ceremony was also outside under some huge trees and next to old ruins. very special indeed. The bride arrived on the back of a wagon pulled by a tractor.
Neither the bride nor the bridesmaids felt like wearing high heels, they all had cowboy boots on.
Something that I’ve never seen at a wedding was Alexa’s garter, she and a lot of her friends that got married already share a garter, every time when anpother friend gets married her initals gets added to the garter
The photoshoot was a mad rush, one eye in the viewfinder, and the other on the rain clouds building up all the time. We finished just in time, I had another 5 or 6 photos planned when it started raining, talk about timing! But at least the rain clouds made for some pretty dramatic photos!
We were very lucky with the horses walking around in the veld, some of them were very curious about the people with the nice clothes and came closer to investigate!
The evenings party was a REAL party, lots of good friends, lots of people having a good time and celebrating Martin and Alexa’s big day.
This is one that we will not forget soon. Thanks for caring about us so much Martin and Alexa, and thanks for having us as your wedding photographers and videographers.
