Groblersdal wedding photography

I just love this away weddings. Not to far that it takes you hours and hours to get there. Just a nice two hour drive in beautiful surroundings. I love Groblersdal..a LOT, and I love the people around there even more. Genuine people, they really care about their friends, and they always enjoy a good party.

Joy got dressed at the Godiva Spa, and the wedding  was about 10 km away at Lookout Lodge. A blessing in disguise that she got married at Godiva Spa, because it rained so much at the lodge that we had to take all the photos at Godiva spa.

It was the first time that I saw (and photographed) an entire wedding ceremony outside…while it was raining. They just erected a couple of big umbrellas..and there you go. The people in Groblersdal don’t get worked up about small things like rain during a wedding.

Joy’s dad passed away a while before the wedding, always something that’s very bad because the dad brings his daughter into the church and dances the first face with her.

Look at the second photo. Do you remember the saying: ” something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue?” Well. Joy’s something blue was a badge worked into the inside of her wedding dress, a badge of her dad’s favourite rugby team, the Blue Bulls. (I think all the people in Groblersdal are Bulls fans) She wrote the date on there that her dad passed away, 24/04/2014. How nice to remember him like that. And the first dance? I wondered what was going to happen. Joy didn’t know it, but her brother 9that walked her into the church) and all her uncles made a plan. They all danced the first dance with her…in honour of her dad, each one had about 40 seconds to dance with her. It was SO cool, I was fighting back the tears.

Dries’s gradfather toasted the couple, and instead of just a speech, he read to them out of the Bible, like I said…genuine people!

Dries and Joy, I enjoyed your wedding so much, I wish we could do it again next month. Thanks a lot, it was such a privilege to be your wedding photographer.
