A Beautiful Wedding in Middelburg

Hein and Anneli got married in Middelburg, and what a pleasure it was to be their wedding photographer. I Just LOVE them from the moment I first saw them. Why? They are just the nicest, most beautiful two people. They came for a pre-wedding photoshoot as well, and they then already said to me me that it doesn’t matter how long their photo shoot take, they just want nice pictures. Now this is not something that you must say to a wedding photographer. LOL. But I tried to not upset the rest of the people waiting for the couple after the shoot and before the ceremony by taking to long. Although, there was rugby on the TV and I think a lot of them wished I took even longer so that they could finish watching the game in the pub.

Hein and Anneli’s Story

Heinie and I met in high school. I was 17 and he was 16. He was part of a big group of friends so I never really tried to catch his attention. But then we discovered that we are also in the same church youth group and that’s were the sparks began to fly. We lived only 4 houses from each other so we walked to school together every day. Every Wednesday night the youth bus picked us up to go to church, we both would get on the bus .When we arrived at church we found each others company much more interesting than the service (laughs).

After quite a few years – 8 years to be exact, we went to Sun City for New Year’s Eve. We visited Hein’s cousin in Rustenburg and on New Year’s Eve we all decided to go to the mountain where you can look down and see the whole city and all the fireworks. So on our way to the mountain everyone knew about the plans Heinie had except for me. He wanted to stop at the house to pick up champagne (later on I found out it was actually to pick up my ring because the champagne was already in the car right next to me!!!) So with all the excitement of New Year’s Eve I started opening the bottles of champagne so that when we got on top of the mountain we could just pop the cork ( because we were a few seconds late). When we finally arrived at the mountain we jumped out of the car, running up the hill this bottle decided to pop itself!! All over my face and clothes!! So I smelled like alcohol!! Not very romantic! Then it started to rain very softly. When we finally got on top of the hill to enjoy the view and do the countdown for new years Heinie went down on one knee, at this stage I thought he was falling down the cliff so I tried to catch him (embarrassed) that was when I realised he was asking me to marry him!!! I just shouted YES!!! And started to cry. I was so happy. The whole romantic perfect setting that you imagine when you dream about your engagement, that’s so boring!! This was magical! I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.

The Wedding

After the engagement we started planning the wedding. We had the most beautiful wedding day I could ever imagine!!! Even with all the minor mistakes that sneaked in it was perfect. I wouldn’t change a thing!!! One of the highlights for us was when we gave the vows. That was such a special moment for us and the fact that it was so intimate with all our close family and friends. Our families were so helpful and blessed us with so many things I’ll have to put up the guest list to thank each one in person. Everyone was amazing. I loved every moment of having everyone together. We are blessed to have had such a beautiful sunny day.
