Wedding at Lakensvlei lodge near Dullstroom
I got a call from Anneri earlier this year, I photographed her sister Mariette’s wedding about a year and a half ago, and she wants me as her wedding photographer. I love weddings like this, you already know the people, and everything is so much more relaxed.
I left early the morning for Belfast, about a 200km drive from my home. It is in the beautiful Mpumalanga, so i was very excited about the kind of photos I could get there. They had the wedding ceremony the afternoon at Lakensvlei lodge close to Dullstroom, but they first got married at an intimate little ceremony in tehir local church. Just Chris and Anneri, the two sets of parents…and me.
After that it was photo time. Anneri loves horses, and sge got a friend to meet us just outside town with a horse to get some photos. After that we drove to Lakensvlei Lodge for their 2nd ceremony of the day and the reception.
We first took a couple of photos before the second ceremony. This place is just unbelievably beautiful. Lakenvlei Forest Lodge, nestles amid a lush 4 500 ha pine forest estate whilst beautiful streams and dams filled with trout make this setting picture perfect.
Just have a look at the photos of the wedding ceremony. I don’t think i’ve seen a more beautiful setting for a wedding ceremony. Guests sit on the edge of a lake, while the couple and the minister are across the lake on a jetty.
I wanted, and got a couple of photos of Anneri and Chris on a little rowing boat on the lake. To say they are not very accomplished rowers is putting it mildly. All the guests were photographing them from the shore…a lot of them certain Anneri and Chris will capsize the boat with their wedding wedding clothes on. But they made it, and I got some stunning photos of them in the boat.
Thanks for making me a part of your special wedding day Anneri and Chris, may your wedding be truly blessed.
